BIO

The importance of photography runs deep in the family. Nadjet has spent a significant time in her childhood travelling and exploring different countries with her family, always carrying a Kodak disposable camera on them.
They always wished to commemorate the meaningful and emotional moments of their recent move to Italy, with a focus on those that would bring them happiness.
At the age of ten, Nadjet was finally allowed to use the camera which marked the beginning of her journey into the world of photography. During her teenage, she cultivated a serious passion for Italian literature and art. She would pick her favourite quotes from books and try portraying them in pictures.
In 2014 after she moved to the UK and came across language barriers that prevented her from integrating with the new community, photography has also become a way to express herself.
At first, her interest was leaning towards nature and landscape until she began to receive offers and commissions to photograph weddings and events. That highlighted the beginning of her professional journey in this creative field.
After starting her photography and media studies at Hillsborough College, Nadjet has shifted from events photography to more sports photography, portraits and commercial studio work with a particular interest in "social issues" project related.
During her studies at Sheffield Hallam University, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography and Media Studies. Throughout their two-year, Nadjet discovered a growing inclination towards the documentary style of photography; with the help and encouragement of the university tutors, she was transferred to the University of Gloucestershire to study Photojournalism & Documentary Photography ending her studies in 2021.
Thanks to her commitment and passion for photography, Nadjet was very lucky to be offered very unique opportunities at a very early stage of her life, including leading a photography crew to photograph the Sheffield Sharks matches. Also, she worked as a photographer assistant for Thrifty Store x ASOS. Nadjet has also been commissioned by Darnall Well Being, Theatre Deli, Voluntary Action Sheffield, Migration Festival, So Africa Festival, IBody TV and many more.
Nadjet's ambitions for the future are vast. The ongoing project, Origins (a photobook that takes us on a journey for her homeland) has already been on an exhibition in 2019 at the Migration matter festival and will be represented with more work in other venues once is finished. The new project that the artist is very passionate about is a podcast platform that gives voice to people to speak about the least unspoken stories with a main focus on migration.
